Recently I had the opportunity to dine at the Common Ground restaurant in Allston, MA. Allston is a college town through and through. The pubs and restaurants attract a younger crowd, but people of all ages visit Allston for some seriously good eats.
Common Ground is a great example of a pub/restaurant that all ages can enjoy. During my visit I was hankering for a good old fashioned hamburger. And their Char-Grilled Hamburger ($10) sang a sweet song when I heard that I could have it topped with bleu cheese. Beef and bleu cheese. A perfect union.
After a very short wait, a large platter arrived with a hefty burger on a fresh bakery roll. The burger was cooked perfectly. The meat was juicy and topped with just the right amount of bleu cheese. Usually burgers are hit or miss, but this one hit the spot.
The menu stated that my burger came with fries, but I really wanted to try their Truffle Fries ($5). I had heard that they were the bomb and I love a good fry. I figured my teen sons would take care of the fries that originally came with my burger. They are good wing men when it comes to finishing off food that I bring home.
The Truffle Fries were delectable. Thick cut, crispy fries with just the right amount of truffle oil. Paired with my Cabernet Sauvignon, I was in foodie heaven. It’s amazing what a little truffle oil will do to a fry. Bliss.
Besides hearty delicious fare, I enjoyed the atmosphere of Common Ground. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. And the restaurant itself exudes warmth with its brick walls and dark wood interior. It’s just a real comfortable place to hang out and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

Common Ground sounds and looks wonderful Melanie! You definitely have a thing for truffle fries lately and I can honestly say that I can’t blame you girl!! I love them too!! I also love a great burger with blue cheese crumbles. Sigh, I am very hungry all of a sudden!!
I do have a thing for truffle fries and these rocked. If you get the chance, you must try them. Wonderful!
