After graduating from college with a degree in public administration, I realized my true calling was cooking. Back to school I went taking classes at Johnson and Wales and also classes offered locally by various chefs.
I went on to teach private cooking lessons to individuals and groups, but then the kids came along and my spare time poofed out of existence.
In an attempt to keep my brain sharp, I started blogging in 2009 on The Coupon Goddess and then rebranded in 2012 to Melanie In The Middle where I share my adventures as a mom of four. A Beautiful Bite was created in 2012 to further explore and share my interests in recipe development with innovative and satisfying recipes. Also in 2012, I joined GateHouse News Service as a food columnist. My column, Table Talk, is also dedicated to creative cooking that anyone can replicate in their own kitchen. No crazy trendy ingredients. Just food that the whole family can enjoy.
Working with brands to develop recipes is one of my passions and I’ve worked with many brands such as Captain Morgan, Dreamfields Pasta, Hood and Dixie Crystals Sugar. Want to see me in action? In the clip below, I’m cooking with Ree Drummond of The Pioneer Woman fame at her ranch in Oklahoma. It will be the first and last time you ever see me in a cowboy hat,but it was all in great fun!
